​​Higher Education COVID-19 Response Study

This study explores student's reactions to their college institution's response to the COVID pandemic with a focus on how institutional responses affected key sociocultural factors (e.g., academic motivation, sense of belonging).

​Racial Ethnic Cultural Belonging and Belonging Vigilance

This project seeks to provide a scholarly understanding of Racial Ethnic Cultural (REC) Belonging and Belonging Vigilance. Using focus group, interview, and survey data, we hope to develop a theoretical framework and testable measure that can be valid and reliable among diverse REC groups.

College Undermatch Study

This survey study examines the role that goal pursuit and sense of belonging to college may have on college choice

​The FLI Experience: 5-year Project

​This project follows 15 first-generation/low-income FLI students from when they first enroll in college, until they graduate. Students are interviewed at the beginning and end of each year where they discuss their college experience in regards to their ethnic racial identity development, academic achievement, sense of belonging, peer and faculty relationships, and relationships with their home culture. Students are currently in their third year of college.

The College Friendship Study

This study employs longitudinal interviews and surveys to explore how students (n = 150) that are underrepresented along social class, religious, and ethnic/racial lines form their social networks and continue to construct their identities in college.
